Bad Ass Wallace

Having a love of all things single shot, I could not resist an offer of a free Winchester Low-wall that was, to say the least, in very sad condition. By the low Serial No. 107XX it was a very early model and very likely fired with mostly black powder ammunition. The barrel was completly ruined, the firing pin broken and the breech block needed bushing. Inside was years of neglect and crud!
Stage 1 was to have the action completely stripped and rebuilt. I purchased a No.3 Winchester tapered octagonal barrel blank from Green Mountain. The gunsmith fitted it finished at 30" and chambered for a classic cartridge - Winchester 32/40.
Next job for me is to make a new stock to duplicate of the original shape, and finally house it in an oak case with compartments for cartridges, boolit mould and dies. This will be a present for my new grandson when he comes of age!
