...............Had some fun with the Rossi 45 Colt last Tuesday. Just for fun during the day fired off 50 rounds at various targets around the range. LIke rocks on the various berms and the 200 meter gong. Makes a neat 'CLung" when it hits and sure wiggles the plate around.

Oh yeah, the load was the Lee 457-340F lube-sized to .454" and loaded over 15.2grs of surplus WC820. Nice load. The rifle backs off the slug rather smartly :-)

Buckshot, have you tried any of the 400 grainers I sent you yet?

...............Not yet Ed :-( Those 340's I was shooting were some I'd had loaded up from before. I'm hoping I'll get some time before too much longer to do some loading!

Buckshot,

Neat experience! Thank you for sharing.

With the Lee 340 gr. bullet in my 1894C, I need 20/296 to get it to stabilize in the 38" twist (rifle purchased in 1997)......velocity 1,380 f.p.s.

One of my favorite targets for that load is the 55# steel ram @ 50 to 100 yards.
Set up 5 and see how fast ole betsy can knock 'em down.:Fire:
Lots of reaction!

Do you, by chance, know what the velocity is with your 15.2/WC820 recipe?

Thank you,

If you can get some Lil' gun try it. I've found it great for 454 and 45 colt in rifles.
