I have used this tool to iron out dented case necks to the point that they would fit in the sizing die.

Not a new trick. Some of us have been using the "need-a-nose" pliers for many years. They work fine for short runs, but for long runs, I prefer a real expanding die to consistency sake.

I am with Char-Gar. For consistency I want a real flaring die. I do use them when piddling around and they work well to get a boolit started.

Consistency is a GOOD thing. I have and use M dies and a Lee universal case flaring tool. All good stuff. Even the flaring tool on the powder through dies that Lee makes are acceptably okay.
How-some-ever,.... I have been lightly flaring my match '06 cases for military bolt for years with 'the tool', a very old 'need-a-nose' for many years. I win more than my fair share of the matches.
Now, if I were into shootin' fer money with high dollar equipment, I might be a little for 'industrial'.

I have a nice little custom expanding plug for am M die that goes from .307 to .317 in .001 steps. I run it into the case far enough to start the gas check and that is that. Works like a champ for me.
For a $1 tool you can't go wrong with the needle nose!
