One of my presses is a Lyman Orange Crusher from the days they were painted orange. It has a foam bicycle grip on the end. I would prefer a ball, or better yet, the Dillon rolling handle rig. What mgf. handle will thread into the Lyman linkage? Does anyone know? If no, does anyone have a handle on the loose they can measure dia and threads per inch?

Can't speak for a Lyman, but my RCBS JR 3's handle, that came with a slip-on plastic bicycle grip, is not threaded.

I bought a comfortably sized wood ball from a local craft store, drilled the appropriate size hole in it, applied a few coats of Tru-Oil, and JB Welded it to the handle. The ball cost about a buck.

My 1950s vintage Pacific and my 2001 vintage Redding turret both have 1/2 National Fine threads for the handle. That is 1/2 X 20. I don't know about the Lyman, but that would be a good place to start.

If you don't get any specific information, take you Lyman handle down to a hardware store and see what size nut screws on. I am betting is is 1/2 National Fine.

I have an older style Orange Lyman T-mag press, that I decided to paint black to match my newer Lyman T-mag press.

Since I have both old and new presses, I have both styles of handles - The foam bicycle grip handle, and the handle with the ball on the end.

Mine are interchangeable between the old, and the new Lyman presses.

You should be able to purchase one of the newer Lyman ball type handles, and be able to thread the handle onto your Orange Crusher.

Here is a 3rd party guy who sells custom press handles. Check your thread count or have someone here tell you what it is, then contact the guy. If his handles won't work, he will modify one to work:

Go buy a cue ball from a billiard supply, mic the handle for diameter, use the appropriate size forstner bit in a drill press, glue using JB weld or Gorilla glue. Cost about $10.00 and you don't have to send it out.

Since you mentioned Dillon here is my suggestion. Get a 3 foot piece of the correct diameter rod from your favorite store and thread the one end. Now install it into your press and determine how high up you would feel comfortable reaching for the handle. Place the rod in a good vise heat red hot and bend at a 90 degree angle.

I do have a Dillon with the roller handle and a couple I have converted this way. I do not see any big difference in the roller and plain steel ends. YMMV.

Guys I need an advise regarding my brand new Lee Classic cast press.
After around 500 de-rimmed 22LR cases the press handle started get bend !
I tought it is rough press for anything but it isn't.
You got only what you paid for :-( On the other hand, 200$ in my country!!!

Another thing is the ball at the end which came off after around 100 presses :-(

I remember a thread about the Classic Cast that mentioned it having a hollow handle, that was prone to bending?

That's a great idea! Might be cooler if you use an 8 ball!

Correct it is hollow, nevermind I will turn it in 180 degrees to bend it back :-)
When it broke 2 years guarantee will cover it maybe :-(

But I would like to hear any suggestion concerning unchoked ball.

Wow, never heard of such a thing.

I have a new Classic Cast and it has a solid handle with wood ball.

They should send you a new one...

My classic cast handle is hollow. It hasn't bent. Wood ball knob did come off so JB Weld was the fix.

If you want probably one of the most comfortable handles you can have, get a Lacrosse ball, drill a hole a little past half way, and push it on. The drill pushes the rubber away as it drills and the finished hole is a little smaller than the handle. The ball on my coax has not slipped off.

I once re-sized a 55 gallon drum full of 44 magnum brass at work using a carbide die, and a Lee classic cast press with the wooden ball on the end of the handle.

I had the nastiest blister on the palm of my hand from that wooden ball. I can still feel it in my mind if I close my eyes and think about it.

It sure was a tough press though, and as I recall it also had a solid handle. Roller handles really are slick, and a great innovation.

I took the same path with an old bicycle grip RockChucker, except I'm a boiled linseed kind of guy...

Here it is what I spoke about

My hand is showing the set starting position.

By the way thanks for offers but the shipping fee abroad would do it non affordable.

Normally I use fitness glove to obey blisters and make it more comfortable:-)

Rasto, have you contacted LEE and told them it's bent?
I had to reglue mine with silicon, the type used to seal window's and around tub's and sink's.
I know LEE use's a hollow tube for the handle as a safety.
The handle will bend before the press break's.
Can I ask what you were doing when it bent?

zuke 8th post is describing it.
I was derimming 22lr annealed and lubed cases.
Most of them were quality CzechoSlovakian made cases from old production named REX.
Other newer production went without any effort.

http://castboolits.comLathesmith of this forum makes handles that will fit all presses. They are a perfect fit and will allow you to load for hours with no blisters or hand cramps. I'm sorry that I waited so long to order mine for my Lee Turret.
