Lets see some of everyones favorite rifles.

Heres one of mine. Its a 6.8SPC I put together with a Bison Arms stainless 1:11 20" barrel. Its a perfect hunting rifle for what I do.

And the rifle that goes everywhere my truck goes. A 16.75" 30-06 single shot with a 2x pistol scope mounted on it. Lightweight and shoots better than it should.

About the only factory rifle I have. A restored 450/400 3-1/4 inch double rifle made in 1913 buy an unknown maker but most likely a " London Gun" It was sold by the Safari Outfitter lawn and Alder as a high grade hunter. It was definetly hunted as you can see the difference in barrel wear between the right and left barrels. It still shoots well....using Woodleigh 400 grain bullets it will print 2 lefts and 2 rights into 2-1/2 inches at 100 yards....and Doug.....the answer is still......no.

Shooter93;

Great looking rifle, wonderful caliber. I've been lusting for 450-400 3 1/4" for a few years, but just haven't found what I want since I foolishly passed up a best quality Alex Henry sidelock, ejector in that caliber that a friend sold a few years ago, I'm still kicking myself for not buying it.

I should say I pretty much stole this one elk hunter.....a very good friend sold me it from his collection for literally peanuts. The restoration was done by another good friend of mine who is an exceptional gunmaker.

Double rifles are never cheap, if they are they're either broken or worn out which leads to costly repairs which I'm sure you're aware of. Do be careful, they're very addicting. You'll find yourself wanting another one and then another one, and with each one the addiction gets worse, just ask my wife.

Enjoy your rifle, they're meant to be shot and hunted with. They don't like living as "safe queens".

I'd tell you my total cost in it elk hunter but you'd just cry....lol. I may only ever get one more but the fellow who sold it to me has dozens that I get to shoot a lot. My rifle went to Zimbabwe with me a few years ago and I'm trying desparately to get back.

It is not my favorite rifle per se, but it is fast becoming my favorite deer gun. Ohio doesn't allow rifles, so I am stuck with a shotgun. It is a regular smoothbore 20 gauge New England that I shortened with a hacksaw and squared off with a file at 20 inches. Recrowned it with sandpaper and a carriage bolt. Had it drilled for a scope rail, and I refinished the stock with spray bedliner and put a Pachmyer recoil pad on it, also coated the metal with Duracoat to make it as weatherproof as can be. It will clover leaf Brenneke slugs at 50 yds and helped me to get a deer at 125 yds this year. Handy to carry at under 3 foot long and 6lb. 11 oz, and makes a great grab and go deer gun.

If we're talkin' centerfires, I only got one.

Grandad's old Remington 14 in .30 Rem. I'm working on getting everything together to start loading for it and I'm still trying to get it completely cleaned up. When I got it, the bore was literally GREEN. I hate to think about how much I have scrubbed it, and the bore still has a "rough" look to it, but the rifling is visible and hopefully it will have decent accuracy once I get it shooting again.
