I've owned a .30 gas check seater tool for about 2 months now that Buckshot made me. It is a true joy to use. My " wild un-explainable flyers " have become almost non-existent now. I believe that the gas check being on perfectly square has really helped my shooting ! !

A few days ago, I asked him to make me the same thing in .35 cal. for my .358 pistol and .359 - .360 rifle bullets to be used in my 358 Win. and 35 Ack Imp. Whelen.

The .35 cal. gas check seater tool arrived today.

Joy, Joy ! ! Works perfectly !

Doesn't beating on the nose of the bullet, especially a hollow point lead bullet with a plastic hammer bump up the nose of the bullet??? Seems a little crude to modify the bore riding portion of the bullet to inconsistent diameters as a hammer is not a very accurate tool to use on soft lead????

Montana Ron :

Did you happen to read the portion that says " You may prefer to use a Lyman or RCBS top punch that fits the bullet ? " If that is a concern of yours, you'd place the top punch on the bullet's nose then tap it a couple of times with your hammer.

And no, a couple of soft taps does nothing to the dia. of the nose of the bullet.

I use the same method of using the hammer to seat .30 cal. g/c's with Buckshot's .30 cal. gas check seating tool , see if this looks a little crude to you ?

Rick can't be beat.

On top of his excellent machining skills, he is just a fine fellow ! ! !
