You got that right hiram1. If I don't like something, I just click off the page. They have to figure out when "enough is enough" . That is no easy task and the thanks are few and far between on whatever forum you are at.

They are what makes the forum worthwhile. With poor moderation things get ugly really, really quickly and then nobody learns a thing.

Hmmm... I dont recall seeing any threads locked. I stay out of the politcal forum because I am so opinionated it cause trouble, maybe that is where they get locked.

+1 on a well run forum. People seem to have pretty thick skin and I seldom see an inflammatory remark

The mods here do a great job. On a board this size it's a monumental task. Vetting new members, deleting spammers, watching for given advice that's dangerous or illegal, settling squabbles, checking links posted by others to make sure that they don't link to something nasty, checking posts for banned content etc. I'm sure that all are volunteers and most likely spend more time moderating than participating. All in all a pretty unselfish bunch. Kudos to them! RD

We have to thank the members. So many keep an eye out across the internet, and we get notifications of cross posting of for sale items almost immediately. Also many catch things we don't, and let us know. It is impossible for us to read every post on the board. Without your help, it wouldn't be possible.
Yes, some get their nose out of joint occasionally, and take any reprimand as a personal attack. It is not. We do our best to be even handed with every member. If someone is told to knock it off, no big deal generally, we just ask you don't repeat the mistake, which many of them are.

That's exactly how I've been handled the (*ahem*) few times I've made a mistake here. :) Very professionally and I appreciate it.

The reason I stay here is because most of the members handle themselves well and many I would consider gentlemen. The mods are a cut above this!

I have been reprimanded once for posting a joke about the President. A mod took great offense and lambasted me pretty good for being a tasteless cad etc. I disagree with his opinion and was warm behind the ears for an hour or so. ')

After thinking on it, then praying and listening I realized it was not a big deal at all and thanked the mod then moved on.

With the swelling of the ranks has come more of the crude, rude "manly" talk. I do see most of it handled very tactfully by members without mods being needed.

Sometimes I wish we could find out which mod stepped in and had a talk with someone who was stepping over the line. Just saying thanks sometimes does NOT seem enough but I will do it anyhow.

Moderators we have them here? Yes I have got my hand spanked a time or two and I have to say I asked for it.
But you know what this is a nice place to stop by and chat and learn. I even got to meet our own 45Nut and you know we have more in common than not so I try to stay on the right side of an issue or question so I don't get to lose my rights to stop by and chat.
Well done to all who wear the hat of Moderator and no I don't want the job, I have had jobs that were similar and it is no fun and there is no place to hide and sometimes you get caught up in the issue and have to spank yourself.
Happy New Year to one and all and I hope next year at this time we are still free and not in a socialist state or worse. Now did I make a political statement? Dang that seems to happen every time I forget politically correct speech, off to the woodshed with me.

They put up with me! What more can I say?
I have seen a few call names without retribution and that is good, forgive and forget. I never want to see anyone banned for some name calling and our moderators are the best ever.
I have been banned from sites with a few posts after being very careful, nothing bad at all, even praising the owner. I do not understand!
I feel at home here, dispute me, call me names, it is OK. I will never call anyone a name. Our moderators understand and are real people.
I do not ever want to see any single person removed from this site because we are friends no matter what.
I also want to thank our best friends. OUR GREAT MODERATORS!
