9gr Unique .457 RB 30 shots, what fun. 50 yards. Forgot to add 45/70 M1867 Rolling Block

Excellent!

I have done the same with my .44 mag Marlin, 0.440" RB run through 0.434" sizer then put over 8 to 10 grs. of Unique.

Accuracy wasn't as good as yours but respectable at 50 yards.

Quick to cast, easy to load and easy on powder and lead (and shoulder). Good fun plinker round ~ like a .22 on steroids.

Did you lube yours? I used a coat of LLA.

LLA is the lube. I haven't tried it in my Shiloh 45/70 as te old roller is so accurate with them just haven't seen the need. The Shiloh is a beautiful rifle but the old roller is as accurate with BP. Of course neater are going anywhere.

I now have an Accurate mold that is 165 gr. which I am using to replace the RB. I got Tom to scale down a .45 design he had and am glad I did. It casts beautifully and is as fast to use as an RB mould, the boolits drop out. I tumble lube and shoot unsized.

A little heavier than RB but not a lot.

This is what makes shooting fun and guns more versatile.

The mould I got is the 43-165B:

Scaled down from the 45-165C:

It feeds and shoots very well. I like it a lot.

Photos of mould and boolits attached. Not new anymore, I have had it for almost a year now.
