I have finally decided after years of playing games with the Lee lead pots to bite the bullet and order a new RCBS bottom pour pot. My question is should I spend the extra $10.00 for the 220 or just get the 110 model. I do my casting in front of my Garage and have access to both 110 and 220 service.

I have had the 110 volt model for over 20 years and like it a lot. It only used 800 watts, so it works great on 110, ( 800 divided by 110 = 7.27 amps. ) Not too much for any 110 outlet.

GO with the 110 V version there is no real savings useing 220 V with a RCBS lead pot . Not counting that the 110 V can be used in alot more outlets, either yours or someone elses .

Good points. I have used several Lee 110 pots over the years and they never broke the bank with the electric bill. And if I drop dead the wife would have an easier time selling the 110, not that I am planning on dying, but that’s the only way I will quit casting.
I should have got the RCBS years ago and saved myself a lot of grief.
Lee makes a good pot for the money, but you do get what you pay for.

I have been using a pro-melt for maybe 30yrs and find that sometimes I need to move outside. The 120v version makes this easy and the voltage drop from the extension cord was never noticable. I would go 120v. Bigger pots would probably benefit from a 220v feed but the pro-melt is just fine at 120v.

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought the 110-volt from Midway. It is on sale there and with the $50.00 RCBS mail in rebate too good of a deal to pass up. Now the hard part waiting for the Brown truck.

My 110 has many years under the belt, and no problems!

While 220v is more efficient than 110 the savings would be negligible. I strongly suspect that the 220 pots are geared more towards the European markets?
