I knew if I waited long enough, the turkeys would wander back on the property. I spotted movement on the neighbors place, and watched long enough to see several feeding there. So, I got out my fowler, and moved to cover near the property line. I was watching the flock following the fence line on the other side, move down the hill. Then I caught movement out of the corner of my eye only about 10 yards away. There were three that had fed up behind some small fir trees. I picked out the biggest, and let fly. Only two pellets in the breast, all the rest mangled the head and neck.

Awesome! Another flinter speaks.

Have you had any luck with the 4 legged critters?

I don't know if there will be anything left to hunt, but we can still go fishing!

Hmm 10 yards minus 4ft of barrel.:kidding:
Must try BP one day.

Nice going Ric,

I've yet to shoot a 'flinter' but hope to one day soon. Turkey's ain't that easy to take, they're a sharp bird and to do it with a flinter? Excellent.

That was the same thing I was thinking when I saw the picture. And people fret over two or four extra inches of barrel length [smilie=l: Nice shootin

It's a 20 bore. Here are some pics of the gun.

Extremely nice. I wish I had the patience and skill to even remotely do something like that.

waksupi, I finally paid attention to your location. We honeymooned on Flathead, ten years ago in July. We'll be going back again someday for our anniversary - this time I'm paying a guide to help me catch a laker!

Where did you stay? Let me know when you come back, I may be able to hook you up with a good outfitter.

Add on here;
If you don't wait until he quits fishing for pay, I have a friend that I worked for, who was the owner of Serengeti Rifles, and designed the Montana 1999 rifle action. Rod was a competitive fisherman on the Great Lakes, and makes an absolute science of it. He has every bit of equipment on his boat to locate the fish, plus GPS locations of EVERY fish he has caught in there. Looking at the map on the boat is amazing, and shows the productive areas of the lake in detail. Fish and Game call him for advise on how to manage the fishery. This guy knows where to find and catch fish. As to if the fish will co-operate on a given day, is another question!

I can almost taste that gobbler. Very nicely done. I also admire you for taking the bird from your property and not the other side of the fence. Your taste in smokepoles is also very good, and a 20 bore to boot!!

Well, I can hunt on the other side of the fence. I just didn't have enough cover to get close to them there!

Nicely done, Ric. Turkey should feel honored to be taken with such a fine flinter.
