New guy here. I've got a .54 renegade that I haven't used in years. I used to hunt it in Colorado. Lyman aperture rear sight wth a globe & post front. Pachmeyer pad on it. Decent shape. I'm thinking about selling it and would like opinions on its value. This is not an offer to sell. Thanks.

I bought a very clean one, like you describe for $300 last year. It had been in the store for over a year and they were glad to sell it.

A nice Renegade goes for around $200.00 in this area.

Keep in mind that it has $80 in sights, and they are discontinued. And out of stock at Brownelle's. I bought 2 when they went on closeout, and wish I had bought 3.

I paid $175 for one about five years ago, without the Lyman sight.

If I were selling one, I would at least check out Track of the Wolf. It doesn't seem like any T/C stays on their website very long.

I have been looking at one for a week or two here at the local gun and pawn. Well yesterday I broke down and bought it for my Christmas. $150 and he threw in a nice Oklahoma Leather cartridge belt that none of the "Big" guys around here could get on. I'm not that small, 32-34. Anyway, it's a 54cal., not bad shape, a little surface rust on the outside of barrel where it looks like it wasn't wiped down after handling. Bore looks OK as far as I can tell and I will play with it today. It's all your falt!

I can't really comment, since my pristine .54 Renegade stands me only $50. ;)

I sure like my .54 Renegade. I put it to good use last Saturday afternoon to put a nice little buck down. Its going to make some real fine chili and the roasts are not bad either. Gotta like the old caplocks.

I'd like to get one of those .54 Renegades someday, at least they have grooves: unlike my .56 smoothie. Surprisingly accurate though. When I first shot it I had a 5 gallon bucket hanging as a taget. The second offhand shot made the bucket swing, but it took some time to find the hole as it hit the first one. Only 30 yards or so, but the weight and that set trigger sure help a not so experienced shooter.

Bought mine a few years back for $125, very good shape with the standard sights.
It's a flinter.
Saw one just like it (much newer though) at the flea market last Sun.
He wanted $325 for that one.

Matt: I have about as much fun with my .56 smooth bore. I love to take it for squirrels as a 28 gauge shotgun. Boy does it work. I also have had good accuracy with a PRB. Great times with these smoke poles isn't it?

That's a great idea.
Maybe I'll go grab some shot for it.

I managed to scare off all the deer around here so the squirrels have plenty of room.

In my particular .56 smooth bore I find that I can knock squirrels down at 30 yards without a plastic shot wad. If you use a wad it will tighten up the pattern a bit but it is not always necessary. It is FUN.
