After great success with lemon cordial this year my good friend put me onto elder flowers. I had heard of elderberry wine but not the elder flower cordial. The elders are flowering here right now so on Sunday I picked a heap, chucked them into the stock pot with aobut 3lb sugar and a gallon or so of water with 3 lemons and let it sit for two days. Success. Lovely drop.

I envy you! [smilie=s:
I have none here but back in Ohio I was able to pick gallons of berries.
Best wine and pies EVER. A lot of work but worth all of it.

Picked some more flowers on the way to work today. The flowers are just finishing. Berry soon.

Just bottled 16 gals of Elderberry wine. Had a lot of Elderberrys this past summer.
With all the rain this summer, the concord grapes, apples and peaches didn't do well.
But the wild Elderberries were everywhere. So that's what I used. Last year no Elder
berrys at all. Go figure. I will try the Elder Flower this coming summer, If I get a good
crop. Thanks for the recipe. webfoot
