I picked up a new mold for making some conicals for my 54... then, and only then, did I think of the lube requirements..
Since lube dies aren't available in this diameter, I figured I'd make my own.. didn't need to be hardened, just needed to keep the lube from going all over the place.
Well, on the second attempt, I got it right..
It works really good, up until the time it needs to come out of the Lyman / Ideal 45 Luber.. the stem that pushes the center up, is smaller than .540.... and the hole in the bottom is about .570.. so I have to remove the adjuster, so I can find the edge of the lube die, and carefully push it out..
Now, I will be making my own lube and using this to lube the conicals...
I know, picures.... I will get those tomorrow..

7of7,

We need some pictures of this, or we'll all point and claim it never happened. :)

Looks like a cool idea that I should duplicate for my use too.

I woulld just panlube and make a cake cutter. A plastic 28ga shotshell hull might work, otherwise, its a matter of turning something the correct diameter on a lathe.

Guy's,
I was thumbing through a Dixie catalog last night and they sell a sizing die for minny's to take them to 575 dia. for $18.95 plus shipping. They also have one for .451 for the same price. It said clamp it in a vice and use a dowel rod to push them thru.

The others I will have to recheck before I list them.
Got mine somewhere else at the time/ but not sure he still doing them. Or if I still have his info.
You can also check w/ THE N-SSA site. Besides there BB. check the .ORG site they have a list of suttlers. Not sure who all listed there carries the sizers.

I checked the S&S site, and found it.. $35.00 isn't a bad price at all, and from .250 thru .590 in .001 increments.. (Product ID: SA450)

I just made mine.. had I found this, I probably would have ordered one.. I did need more lathe time boring holes.. and making them bigger... Should I need another, I will definitely get one from here..
