Mossberg 500 bead thread size

What is the thread size of a Mossberg 500 bead sight?

My extra Remington bead is too big and that is the same as my 6-48 tap. (or is it 6-40?, cannot recall.)

I have a fairly new barrel (28" ported with Accuchoke) and want to do some sight changes.

Mossberg has made so many of those it is a guessing game to get the right size without checking.

With that said, I think it is a 3-56 thread on the bead sights, but Like I said, I am not 100% certain.

I also believe that they vary from barrel to barrel. You need to measure what you have, or else tap to a size that you want it to be.

I may then tap to what I have.

I do have a set up for 6-48 holes. I bought a HiViz 4-1 fiber optic sight set up for Mossbergs/Winchesters. It came with three different sets of screws. The "middle" set in size worked. I'll have to double check if it came with 6-48's.
I thought maybe they were standard, but guess not. I suppose thats why I couldn't find reference in the Brownells catalog or Google.
