Here is my first handgun deer kill, and it was done with a BT Sniper .44 bullet. 64 yd shot with a 14" bbl'd Contender. Load was 12 gr. hs6 with a 270 gr bullet. The deer staggered about 25 yds after a thru and thru behind the shoulder, clipping the of the heart. At first, it did not react to the shot at all and had me scrambling to reload. Just as the croshairs were on him again, he kindly leaned to the left and ..... flop.

Field dressed 133 lbs.

Nice! Glad to hear the bullets from brass has scored another successful hunt. Your one of only a handfull of hunters to have taken an animal with a bullet made from scrap brass.

What was the exit wound like? Did it look like the bullet expanded? How about the internial damage?

Nice job.

Just some more info for ya's.

Core alloy was 50/50 WW/range scrap cast in a 452-200-swc and ran thru a homemade sizing die to fit the .40. About 1/8 in" of exposed lead tip was rounded using a .45 seater. The bullet slipped ribs on bothe sides but exit was definately larger. Lungs were mush and all arteries were seperated from the pumper. Without hitting the heart, I am certain there was enough other damage to complete it's mission.

I am planning on doing a skull mount with it.
