Do the lee melting pots have temp settings on their thermostats or just numbers?

Just numbers, and they don't really help that much either. The temp sensor for the LEE pots is in the little tower NEXT to the lead pot. So it doesn't measure the temp of the lead, itmeasures the air temp in the little tower. Make sure you get a REAL temp gauge to put in the lead itself. Try Brownells or Midway.

I second SPRINGFIELD get a thermometer. I tried to skip a thermometer and soon found out that you need one to get to that temp that pours nice. The #'s don't mean much, other than for starting up.

In my considered opinion, a good thermometer is needed regardless of what brand of pot you own. I am a believer. In fact, I just recently bought a digital thermometer from one of our Forum members for just this purpose.
