Just a simple question from the *** :bigsmyl2:

has any one tried swaging .356-.357 bullets from .380 brass using some thing like a .223,.222, or 17 fireball sizing dies ?
I've read about .452 from .243 dies but not much on 9mm

thanks

I don't know the measurements of the inside of the dies right off but I think it might work. I think the base of die for a .223 case family is about .375 but there is a taper towards the shoulder. Just not sure how far down it goes.

I know a 17 Rem seems the best. It has a case head of .376" and tapers to .356" at the shoulder but is .362-.363" about .460" down from the shoulder so I think it'd have to be sized down .005-7" some how . That just seems like a lot to size down ...

You might be able to do the last part with a Lee bullet sizer. .08" isn't too bad.

Well I just tried it using a .223 die ... The idea should work however I attempted to make 5 or 6 and all is fine until I try to form a point then the point splits/folds in one place I tried annealed and un-annealed same results ,it almost looks like a split neck on a rifle round, from the meplat to the shoulder

I would ask the guy on the other thread that is doing this with the 45. I would think he should have faced the same issue.

I dont know how anyone else is doing it I haven't tried it yet .. But RCE sells a .380/9mm draw set to make jackets for 9mm and .357

He used to make them for reloading presses but I think he only offers them for his presses now. He might make you one though.

Same thing happens when I swage 22LR into .223 bullets but only when there is not lead agianst the inside of the walls of the brass to support the pressure, I think Im gonna order me an extra set of .223 dies to try this

I just briefly tried and had no success whatsoever, I hope I did not damage my die...

Their inventory is all but depleted.
BT Sniper bought just about all of their dies to modify for his design.
They haven't made any additional ones.

That's why BT Sniper has started making his own dies.

You might want to check with CH4D and report back, if you have any luck.
