Here's what I want for Christmas from the handgun manufacturers:
From Charter Arms, a five shot .41 special with a 3" barrel
From EAA, a 9mm/.41 Action Express/9mm Action Express combo pack
From Colt, a Python, naturally
From Ruger, a .32 H&R Single-Six with adjustable sights
From H&R, a return to manufacturing revolvers
From Dan Wesson, some revolvers in .445, .414. and .357 Maximum again
From Browning, a Colt Woodsman type pistol with adjustable sights, 4" barrel, and chambered for .32 NAA and .380 ACP
From Remington, the old style Buck Rogers laser gun looking XP-100 in some varmint calibers and deer calibers as well.
Gotta go, think of some more later...

Don't hate me.
I kinda want a Taurus 405. Thinking of getting one an reaming the chambers out to 10mm. That would give me 1200 fps 200 grain round in a very small tidy package.
I just worry I will get a lemon.

That's a real and justifiable concern.

bowfin,
if you have a browning high power I could help you make part of your wish list come true. There was a top end in 41AE in a gunshop not far from me, been there as long as I can remember. If I come up with a high power my next purchase will be the top end. That is unless you make part of your wish list come true.
I might add that you need to include a supply of brass to go with those AE guns also.

I could say the same thing about Ruger. Just because you got a bad one does not mean they are all bad. Plenty complaints about Rugers here too yet a lot of folks have good ones. I have had both good and bad ones. My First Taurus a 66 was a great pistol Wish I would have kept it instead I traded it off on a trade for a used Ruger 44 Mag Super Blackhawk that was a lemon.

manleyjt,
I have some .41 Action Express pistols (tanfoglios, or EAA witnesses) and some brass and ammunition. I also have a barrel and spring for a 1911, but I don't have a 9mm 1911 to do the transplant.
How much is the top for the Browning, do you recall?
I know CDNN investments has the .41 action express barrel/spring/magazine for EAA witnesses for $49.95.
By the way, I have never seen anything in 9mm Action Express, other than one sample round for sale. When the 10mm and .40 S&W pushed the .41 AE out of the picture, the 9mm AE went stillborn. It would have been a great submachine cartridge out of a Uzi. (They did make some Uzis in .41 AE, by the way).

I wonder what the price of one of these would be compared to a Smith & Wesson 610 with the barrel cut down? I know there has been a small contingency of guys buying the Smith & Wessons and then reaming them out to a 10mm magnum, which is why Starline made a small run of brass for them. I think they just reinvented the Herter's .401 Powermag.

I understand the want from Browning for a 32NAA or 380 but before I wanted either of them I would like a return of the High Standard 380, not a lot were built, I've only held one and it was "SWEET".

bowfin,
it is an original conversion set, It has been so long since I looked at it that I don't rightly recall what it was priced at. I do remember that it did not seem out of line. If I get over there I will look at it again. It is about 55 miles form me.

I want Barsto to start making .30 Luger barrels for all the neato nines out there, starting with the Browning HP. Make it so Santa.

Okay, I completely forgot about that one, and since every old High Standard I have ever seen shot like a house afire, I hereby officially switch my wish to what you said.

For me the Taurus would be far cheaper as I own a 10mm Auto reamer. And, the Taurus would be smaller than a cut down N-frame. If S&W would come out with a k-frame of j-frame sized 40S&W I would be reaming it instead.

What I want and not get is a compact Witness in 10MM maybe next year.

I love both my 10mm Witness guns. I would not wish a compact Witness on you. Maybe a P-carry. Most of the guys that have them at the 10mm forum are less than thrilled with them.
I would suggest to save your pennies for a STI VIP in 40 S&W and then have it reamed to 10mm.
