i was going to order some 846 and some 820pd when i got my next work study check, darnit if the prices didn't go up 20 dollars per keg!

any chance this is temporary or other powders that are like them will hit the market sometime soon? (next 6 months or so?)

I doubt you'll see ANY component prices drop. They never have that I've seen. Better get it while you can.

I know I rookie poster but IMHO at $99 a jug for pulldown I can just go buy new powder for $115 or so.

I can't imagine the volume I would be shooting in to justify the difference in price.

Did you check out Pat's Reloading? I think their prices for 846 are $84.99 for one 8# jug and $79.99 per jug if you buy 4 of them. They will also waive the hazmat charge if you buy 4.

Trickyasafox:

I stand corrected. As of today, Pat's prices for 846 went up $20.00 per 8#.

I have read speculation that with Talon's demise, future quantities of surplus ammo may simply be destroyed (incinerated).:(

i need this news like i need another hole in my head :(

this was going to be my first venture in milsurp powder too. I guess it's best i never know what i was missing :)

maybe i'll call pat's and try to haggle for them to meet me half way. i doubt it'll work, but worst case scenerio is they say no.

Upperb,

What happened to Talon?

not for nothing... (NY speak) but what exactly did you guys expect? We're in the middle of a 6 year long war. According to ninth grade economics that should mean shrinking supply. Buy early til it hurts.

fatnhappy ... we might have been in this war for 6 years now but I don't think we have reached the middle of it yet. I believe it is going to get worse before it gets better. I do agree with your statement on the economics of it. The prices go up as the supplies go down. A person is very lucky to find any pull down projectiles to be had. Most of the powders seem to be drying up. I'm gonna have to lay in a stash of primers real soon. I think supplies of reloading supplies are gonna get a little tighter for awhile.

I just checked it out too! I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Prices on everything for loading have been taking a big jump lately.

garandsarus:

Apparently, they had, among other things, some safety and environmental issues.
