View Full Version : Another Fatter 30 Group Buy Starts Here.

Catshooter

This buy is a re-run of our previous boolit, but made a bit fatter. Specs:

A .30 caliber boolit, weighs 181 gr. bare, meplat of 0.178" and is 1.00" long, which is about the max for a LEE 6 cavity. It's diameter is 0.319" and could be expected to be 0.318"+ from LEE. It is easily sized down 4 or 5 thousandths without much distortion.

A Lee six cavity custom mould, no handles. 45 2.1 will be along shortly to post the pic.

The price. Yes. Well, I've been kinda think' about adding one dollar to the cost, and then giving that dollar to this web site. What do you think? I don't to price 'em too high, most of us aren't made of money. Let me know. So the price will be $60 or $61, depending, shipped to the CONUS. Out the CONUS, PM me for details. Two dollars will go toward a mould for 45 2.1 for his design services, and if we get more than 25 buyers, then I'll send the extra $ to the site. Confused yet?

Click on my user name to send me a private message for my address.

I'll take checks or money orders.

IMPORTANT:Please make sure with your order you send me your personal data including your screen name and which mould you want. I'm running more than six buys (I really must be crazy) so I need to know which you want.

I'll run this one for awhile, maybe 60 days or so. We've a lot of buys up and going .

Once we decide to close, I'll issue last call, and wait a week for straglers. Then deposit our money and send a check to Lee.

When they arrive, I'll break one out and cast with it. If they look good, I'll ship them out to y'all. I'll keep ya posted. Since this isn't a profit-making enterprise, as allways, if there's a problem with your mould, it's between you and Lee.

Sorry I'm not using the new group buy web site, but it's too much for my limited:roll: computer skills.

This isn't a fatter .30. It's a skinny 8mm for folks with old J-bore rifles.

Hi Cat, as we all know, Midway has been very, very successful with their NRA Roundup program. My suggestion is that rather than ask for a dollar, tell everyone that all monies over and above the cost of the moulds plus S+H, will go to support Cast Boolits. I'll bet the final donation amount will go well above the amount of moulds sold. When you post buyer updates, you could post the contribution amounts, just so everyone gets the message and is properly incentivised.

Sure enough, people with early Gewehr 88s, those with Czech made replacement barrels with tight bores, and old J-bore German sporting rifles are looking for something just like this.

The drawing shows the top two bands smaller than the rest. What are their diameters?

The drawing shows the top two bands smaller than the rest. What are their diameters?

About 0.306". This dimension has worked with NuJudges mold and does fit most of the larger Enfields. The narrow bands allow a swageing/crush fit unlike a solid band if the throat is smaller.

I was in on the both the last "Fat 30" and the 311407 Modified GB's. Both cast at .316" and both shoot very well from my 2 M91/30's.

or can guess, how well these will feed in Brit No4 Mk 2's and Arisaka's? I tried the last Fatter
30's in 2 Brits and 3 Arisaka's and they won't feed from the magazines. They either snag on the bottom of the feed ramps, or if they make it up the ramps and get directed to the side of the breechface instead of intro the chamber. Would appreciate any input. Thanks Much.

If you have the 311407 GB, this has exactly the same meplat diameter and nose. That one feeds in everything i've tried it in.

Catshooter, being deployed to Iraq and not having much access to the internet until recently, might there be any extra molds from this GB? Back home, I have two Mosin Nagants that I sluged before I left the USA which measured .315. This boolit sounds like just what I need. Thank you Sir.

Catshooter,Sir,
I sent a Private Message to you about a week ago. Maybe I should not have sent the question via the Private Message route. Anyway, below are the questions I had. In addition, What is a PM? I see it in many Group Buy communications?
I am back in the USA now and interested in any update on the Fattest 30 GB. How will I know if there are extra molds for purchase? Would you give me your address so I could send the payment or should we just wait and see if there will be extras? This is my first time......so please be gentle with me!!
Thanks,
Msgt1030

Catshooter
10-25-2007, 08:06 PM
Msgt,

I both received and answered your PM. Sorry you didn't get it, I must have screwed it up somehow.

The update on the Fattest 30 is that we are in wait mode. Once the order goes into Lee, you just wait until one day the moulds show up at your door.

The way I work it is once I've sent out all the moulds in a GB, and enough time has gone by to resolve any problems, then I PM all the people who I've put on the list for extras, if there are any. After that, if there's any left I'd post a thread offering them up.

I've had enough people PM me to get on the list for all the GBs I've got running that I doubt there'd be any left over. Definatlely please don't send me any money until we know more.
