Sweetheart,
I'm very sorry for our having argued about my putting up the Christmas lights, but I feel that at times you push me little too hard about doing things around the house.
I realize that I was wrong to lose my temper and I sincerely apologize.
All I want, honey, is for you to be happy and to enjoy the holiday season. You are quite correct, nothing brightens the Christmas spirit like a string of colorful lights

Therefore, I decided to hang the lights this morning before leaving for my hunting trip.

Again, I am so very sorry for the way I acted last night.
I'll be late, so don't wait up.
Love you......

i am not a christmas person.
i was ONCE asked to put up decorations at my inlaws house.
Once about 25 years ago.
they had to wait till june to get the plastic santa out of the chimney [upside down] and the
reindeer were strewn [drop kicked mostly] across the yard ,in the trees, and on the neighbors garage.
i also painted a couple of add-on's to their snowman plywood cut out, and to the back side of a plywood santa they wanted out on the fence facing the street.
most of the lights were in kind of a ball shape at the top of a 35' tall quakie tree, but some were fashioned into a "necktie" around the offending err offensive snowman.
there were others but i needen't go on.
the wife says i might get a present from them this year.

I love Christmas and it is the only Holyday I decorate for. I do this by putting a santa hat on the moose head.

No it doesn't. It shows that you are practical.

I wish that picture had been taken at night, so we could see the real beauty of those lights ...

On the 4th friday of November I come down hard with a severe case of HUMBUG, usually lasts until about the 1st wednesday of January. I like it so much, and look forward to it every year.

Using your style, a burned out bulb isn't nearly as noticeable.

Well shoot, the picture didn't show up for me...

In Nov 1997 I had just transferred into NMCB5 and we were depoloyed to Peurto Rico. A couple of other guys and I were stuck with decorating the First Class Mess for Christmas, we put BAH HUMBUG in silver garland two foot letters on the overhead.

Somehow it stayerd up until just prior to turnover in June...

Too funny! I like this display the best. I'd love to do it myself. But I'm too cheap to spend that much coin for a laugh.

I think a lot of folks get the "bah humbug" attitude BECAUSE of the commercialism crammed down our throats. Many businesses are so worried about selling stuff that they force feed us Christmas from a retailers perspective. To me as well, I get a grumpy attitude with all their hype & ****. The "Target" (chain store) ads before thanksgive where thay had that stupid, screaming idiot of a blond woman turned me way off about shopping. (I don't do Target anyway due to their anti-freedom attitude.)
Fortunately, I do recognize the real reason to celebrate Christmas. Christ.

I do give presents, and I do allow Miss Penny to decorate some. We do not go overboard, nor do we start a mongh before Thanksgiving. All our decorations are inside the home where WE enjoy them.

I will say that the hanging deer ones have often given me thought though,,,! I love them!

Contender1. I`m with you on your aggreviations point. Mine is the playing of Christmas Carols all the time on some radio stations starting the 1st of November. Never thought I`d see a commercial of the 3 wise men going to the manger with Target shopping bags hooked on the back of their camel saddles! Does anybody today even have an inkling about the story of Jesus behind the Christmas celebration?Robert

:???:Really ,you expect people to know about the birth of some savior guy and retell aaaagain this year? :kidding:
Kids can't figure out why its a big deal for me to hoist a shot of my grandfathers Jonny Black on 12/7. He went to Honolulu in 6/41 my Grandmother followed 11/41,he passed 12/17/95. As a matter of coincedence both of my Granfathers were born on Christmas day ,01' and 17'.

Going out today to string some lights up.
