I picked up a rather mangled case the other day so I can't tell the length and I'm questioning what it is. Looks to be about like a .41 Mag sized base and is headstamped Omega 1 and is made by Starline.
Should have tossed it in the brass barrel but didn't and it's it's been laying here on the computer table bugging me.
Maybe I've missed some developmental caliber in my old age.
What is it?/beagle

Sounds like maybe a prototype of something with a special "no info" headstamp. may
be mangled on purpose?
PICS!

Are you sure you really want to know? Once you find out, you KNOW you will have to find a gun to go with it!

If it'll fit in a Marlin, Ruger or Smith and Wesson, I want one.

Many years ago Midway sold brass stamped to order with whatever you wanted and I believe the brass was Starline. I didn't order any custom stamped brass but all of my 41 Mag brass and 500 .45ACP brass says Midway. Too bad they don't sell that anymore, it sure helped when collecting brass at the range. Frank

Call Starline and ask them.

It's odd you mention that, I've had some 38spl brass with Spokane PD on them for years. Just figured that if you had the money you could have anything you wanted in the headstamp.

It is rimmed and not the 40 A&E with the 9mm base? I am also voting for a custom head stamp.

Many many years ago at a gun show in Ka, I bought a small box of misc brass for just a couple of bucks. Good deal at the time I thought, as there was a fair number of 06 and 222 brass in it. But there was one small rimmed, apparently rimfire case that was corroded quite badly and I could not ID it with calipher and mic. I researched a number of books for exact measurements, and NOTHING. So I decided to see if I could clean off all of the corrosion. So I carefully went at the little case with 4 Ought steel wool, and when I got the end of the case fairly clean. There was some lettering on the base, and when I got it under the magnifying glass it read "MATEL". It is things like this that have kept me at least a bit humble regarding my knowledge of all things related to firearms.
