In the hunt for some cast loads I settled on the Lee C309-150-F.
GC boolit over 25gr. (24.8 according to the chart and dipper) BL-C2 (it's what I have on hand and listed in the Cast section of the Lee Manual.)

They came out just as good looking as the factory stuff. These are test loads and I'll tweek as nessicary, crimp being one of them. These have been "Lightly" run up the FCD. So it will be single shot only.

The GB 312-150 FP GC boolit over 24.5 grains of milsurp that is supposed to be BL-C2 speed is the most accurate load tested in my Contender with that powder at least it was at 50 yards.
I have no idea of velocity.

No worries on vel. these will after tweeking be the better halfs "plinking" and paper punching loads. Easy on the shoulder. Being GC'ed according to the data I can run them up. :-D

One of these days I'm going to get myself a contender, I was just pricing barrels for them and doing the math, prolly the most economical things to shoot. :drinks:

I happen to like that particular design, and find it seems to group well in whatever barrel its shot from.

That was my understanding from my father who gave/gifted me with about 150 of 'em for "testing." He's shot them from a '94 and mine will be a Marlin mod.30AW.

If you have a can of 2400 lying around, you might try 17.5 grains of that under your 150 grain boolit. I use that load with the 311-466 151 grainer with dandy results.

ummmmm............ I began the Contender odessy this spring ......... and while the barrels can be quite economical ........... they seem to pile up rather quickly ........

The price is lower ......... the volume is higher! Ie. they seem to multply like RABBITS!!!

I'm pretty sure just about anyone on this board has similar "problems" concerning the population of gun cabnets. Speaking of whitch I'll need another if I start down the Contender road.

From the looks of those pix, I wouldn't worry too much about magazine loading. I don't think that you will see any setback. Now after a couple of loadings your necks may harden a little but crimping is not the solution for that.
