But the .224 45 gr soft point Hornady Hornet bullets shot great in it

Great find, I already own one, but if I saw that for that price, I'd have to buy it on principle.

I had one years ago , and ive allways regretted selling it but it had headspace issues , the action would close on a no go guage and you could even put a few thousands feeler guage in between the no go guage and it would still close.
I sent it back to ruger for repair and they said it was withn spec ? i was going to get it rechambered to 22 K hornet but got tired of wating for the smith to do it and traded it in on a Anschutz 64 ms in 22 lr

at the local gunshow has one like new $599.00. I've never owned a 22 hornet.
Even at that price I was interested but the seven day waiting period stopped me.
Dang FBI.

That is not the FBI - it is the state of Washington that imposes the 7 day waiting period. No waiting period here in good ole Virginia!

Hmmmm..... Seven day waiting period on a rifle? Somethings amiss there. Seven days on a handgun, if you do not have a CPP permit.
I've been doing most of my buying from private individuals. No waiting , and better yet, no tax.
Any time I can keep from putting 8% tax in Christine Gregwires pocket, is a good thing.

Done by the FBI in Washington State. Delay me every purchase. I have a license to carry concealed.
I have applied for a Unique personal Identification Number.
Got a letter from the FBI stating that it would be 89 days before they could do anything cause of the backlog. Might happen the middle of next month.
Kinda gives a man a warm fuzzy feeling don't it?
When minutes count the FBI is only months away.

Sorry for the hijacking of this thread. I would be tickeled to have to wait a week for that #3.

You must have a red flag that pops up on the background check is all that I can think of. I've never waited for a rifle. They never even ask to see my CPP , when purchasing a rifle. Or it may be because it's from a gunshow? I dunno, I don't think I've ever bought a firearm from a dealer at a gunshow. Perhaps, that's it. Because at the show they have no way of doing a background check? Curious.

Here in VA the dealers do the background checks - they call in just like they do in their shop. Never had to wait more than an hour or so according to the dealers I talked to - backlog and weekend workers at the National Instant check location.
