Last week I competed in a shoot for the Queen Victoria Rifles; a group dedicated to shooting original rifles issued during the reign of her magisty! Seven rounds are fired at each of 3 ranges best 5 to count.
100yds was good - 5 bulls:p
200yds I was the 7th to compete and the first six had troubles as no one hit the target. I was truly suprised with this score, V, V, 5, 4, 4. The V ring is just 2" the 5 4" and the 4 is 7.5".

The rifle is dated 1883 and was standard issue. No special sights and fired from the prone position supported only by the shooters arms. Of course, my 60 year old eyes are some what younger than the old girl:-D

I assume that group was at 10.0 yards and not 100 yards ( you must have made a typo ! ) either that or you know something about loading one of them M.H's that most of us dont. maybe your tape measure is broken ?

The 577-450 Martini Henry is capable of very good acuracy if loaded properly.I think this target is his 200yd target, though much better than most can achive with this rifle it is not a stand alone achivment, but still very good shooting

After all the warnings I've read about the shooter's nose and thumb contact when placing the thumb over the wrist of the stock, I see you cross the wrist - and I assume your nose isn't particularly short. [smilie=s:
Seriously, nice shooting. I need to get with the program and start load development myself. Hope I can do half as well as you have.

i be over the moon if my mk 1v shoots twice that group size when i finally get permission to shoot itThe converted Mk IVs A&B pattern rifles have larger bores than the standard MH,most so most users use a larger diameter bullet,CBE makes a very good .470-480gr bullet for this or you can paper patch a .458 bullet up to .473 as Kynok did with the last of there comercial 577-450 loads

Great shooting, and a great old rifle. Hope you are still shooting high scores in competition when the rifle turns 200 yrs old.

Not really, this is a 100yd target shot with a MKII. Although this wasn't shot with the mil sights but aperture sights. I have shot slightly smaller groups but have no pictures.
