Same load ... 3 different .357 Magnum Firearms.

Ranch Dog 175 (lubed and checked 178 gr)boolit cast 50/50 (wheel-weights/pure lead) air cooled sized .358
16.3gr / H-110
Winchester Small Pistol Magnum Primer
Cases trimmed to 1.275 (mixed headstamp)

Ruger GP100 6" dot scope 1x at 25 yards from a rest

Ruger Security Six 4" stock iron sights at 25 yards from a rest

Marlin 1894c 2x7 scope at 50 yards from a rest.
Ranch Dog's pressure testing and load data indicates that 16.4 of H-110 gives him 1770 fps.
The upper left flyer was from a cold barrel. I cannot seem to get away from that cold-barrel flyer in this rifle!!!

Seriously, this looks to be some of the best loads I have ever fired out of each of these firearms (Security Six 'specially!) And they are all the exact same load! How unique is that!!!

I'd be interested in your comments.

I had a ruger only load that was very close. 16 gr w/180 fn gc boolit. The advise was to use sr primers as pressure could pierce sp primers.

Ive been fortunate enough to usually owen several guns in the same caliber at the same time . and most of the time what constiantly super accurate load that was worked up for one gun also shoots in another of the same caliber or just a bit of tweking will do it . but not allways some are a real P in my backside at times but its rewarding to figure it out! but thats handloading !

I have to give that one a try. Dan Wesson 15-2 w/ 8" bbl and my 1894 Cowboy Special. I have one Lil Gun load that does great in the rifle and OK in the pistol but not THAT good.

MTJerry, since you live where it gets cold, have you tried Mike's Micro Lithi lube? It has a stellar reputation at eliminating cold barrel fliers. Unfortunately the batch I made didn't handle well in Texas summer heat.

Listen to what Gear said. I have the cold barrel flyer problem a lot when it gets below 40 degrees or so. The MML lube seems to be eliminating that problem. S far it has been fine in the heat of our summers. Lucky for me we only rarely get over 100 degrees as opposed to Gear who lives in the furnaces of He@@.
What lube are you using now? I have much grief with this problem using Carnuba Red. Great lube, just needed a warming barrel to group well. Took about 5 shots in cold weather for ,y 32-20 Marlin to be happy. That isn't good for squirrel hunting!

Thanks for the comments and the lube suggestion .. I will give that a try!

I tried this same load as listed in post #1 with a different firearm listed in the original post.

NEF .357 Magnum (Survivor Series) that has been reamed to .357 Maximum.

Believe it or not there is 20 rounds in that target all fired at 50 yards from a rest using a 4x scope.

I seriously think I am on to something ... HOWEVER ... I still have that first round flyer and in this case it took two rounds to get the group started! I will definitely be looking into Mike's Micro Lithi Lube!

I can't wait to try this same boolit in the Maximum cases at those load levels. Ranch Dog ... you did a fine job of designing this boolit. Clearly I am a HAPPY camper!

One other thing that may be happening is a clean barrel. I know I hate to leave a barrel not cleaned after a range trip or hunt. But I have a 308 that if you clean it, it will take 5 shots before it will group again. If you leave it until the accuracy starts to drop off it will shot great for about 250-300 rds before it needs to be cleaned. I don't do anything to the bore. until it needs it.
