Can mineral spirits be used to thin lee case lube to make a spray lube? Lee suggests using water or alcohol. Mineral spirits says not to use it with water base coatings and of course Lee case lube is water based. What i am wanting to do is make a thin spray lube that i can spray on an old towel and roll 9mm's around on it and then set them aside to dry before loading as lube makes 9mm loading much easier.

the 90-99% isopropyl alcohol mite be the best bet , it works well with pure lanolin anyways ,it's also much cheaper than real mineral spirits lately ( tho not the ummm so called eco friendly mineral spirit mix )

I think the Lee case lube in the tube is a water soluable wax. May thin with water, but in most
situations alcohol will work with water systems, too. The alcohol will dry quickly and leave
a lube film.

Thanks guys i will use alcohol. Would denatured dry quicker than standard rubbing alcohol?

ummm standard is mostly water , the 90-99% would be better than standard , the higher percentage the faster it dries , granpappy's still juice would work for that matter :P denatured also has toxins added to make it "non-drinkable" because after all it's basically ethanol ( without the penalty of a added sin tax ) last i checked the isopropyl is actually cheaper but if you have it you have it ;)

but if you have it you have it

Yep, i have a can of it in the shed that i use to clean my molds, but i'm sure i have some isopropyl around here somewhere too.

It thins perfectly fine with warm water as it is water soluble wax. Adding half isopropyl will help it dry faster but that works best after thinning with water.

Standard rubbing alcohol is not mostly water.

The std is 70% alcohol. The good stuff is 90-93%. The price diff is significant.

Use gas dry, but read it to be sure it is the 100% isopropyl alcohol type. Cheap and
no water to slow down drying.

You're welcome. Cheapest and easiest source of straight isopropyl alcohol I have found.
Now if the lids were just easier to take off and put back on . . . . . . .
