split his heart with a 150g Rem Coreloct out of my .30-06 Ruger M77. Shot was only 35 yds but snuck it through a tiny opening in the brush. At the shot he made 4 big bounds and then piled up as he crashed headlong into a tree (busted off two tine tips in the process:cry:)

In my hunting zone could have shot the Buck and up to 3 does on "Management tags", but I had to get back to family and work so out of the woods we go...

Likeliest to be something like the Lyman "Gould" 300g HP out of my .45-70 NEF Handi Rifle or something 160g or heavier out of my wife's Grandfather's sporterized P17 .30-06 (iron sights), but that one needs some bedding work before I start shooting it. OR a .30-30 from one of the Savage 340s I'm piecing back together... or a RD .45 Colt out of my Rossi Puma, or a 215g PB SWC out of the .357 Max barrel on my NEF handi rifle, or...
