For all you S&W aficionados, this is the ultimate good looker. I went to the gun shop and picked it up today. What a sweet piece! I think I'll be fondling it most all of the evening.

That, is a very nice lookin piece.
Send it to me for a couple months, and I will do the break-in for you. It will save you all the
pain and anguish of getting it fouled and smoke ridden.

That's awfully nice of you. After all, it does take a bit of time away from me and my dog so, I may consider it if you pay shipping and return within a week. See, I'm a nice feller too.:D

The price was $1095 and yep, the finish is as good as the pics. The checkering is superb. It's not sharp to bother your grip and the trigger couldn't be much better. Slide to frame fit is super and I can't find a thing to complain about. I do like the over sized extractor. S&W probably makes the best external extractors extant.

I don't care much for the magazines that came with it but they ma be alright. There's no indication on them who the manufacturer is but the spring is very strong. I'll be using Wilson's and Tripp mags anyway.

That's purdy. I see S&W is following Rugers lead with the billboard on the side.

I have one of the 1st 1911's (1200 1st run) smith made in the 90's SS with the Birley BBl wilson hammer & trigger Macormeck beavertail many many rounds and it will eat anything you put in it and never a hickup. you will enjoy yours a lot good luck. GD

Thanks for the writeup! What do you think of the curved grip frame as opposed to the standard straight 1911 grip?

It feels great-I like it even better. This Commander sized pistol with those grips seem like part of your hand. I like the curved MSH and put one on my other 1911.The three leaf trigger/sear spring is pretty stout and required a little better grip when you hold it to release the safety-not a lot but it's noticeable over the standard 1911.

The extractor spring seems to be a roll pin but these eyes without a magnifying glass aren't good enough to tell for sure. I didn't know if I'd like the fish scale serrations on the slide but they're much better than I thought.
