Italian M1889 experts?

The M1889..Bodeo..Italian ordinance revolver..whatever you call the revolver..I own one.

I played around..and made a few cases for it from .44 mag...made a home-made sizer and sized some .440 roundballs..and loaded enough cartriges to shoot the thing a few times.

Problem is the hammer-mounted firingpin comes to a needle point. Pierced the primers every shot!!

I've looked the old gun over pretty good..and don't think the firingpin has been altered or replaced.

Is a sharp pointy firingpin normal to these primitive old six-shooters?

Just what did the Italians use for primers for the 10.35mm revolver ammo..Berdans I presume huh?

I had the same trouble with an old rolling block rifle I had so I just took a little off the pin with a stone and rounded the tip a bit and no more problem. Most of those old cartridges used Berdan primers
