loads for GB 311291 in 30-30

Hello, new guy here with a quick question. I am getting in on the group buy for the 311291 30 cal bullet. I have cast for all my handguns for years, but never for any rifles (other than 45-70 and 32-20). I went and bought a Savage 219 in 30-30 to get started,as I have had great luck with Savages shooting well. In the wind and snow here, I'm sneaking up on 1/2" groups at 50 yds. (iron sights), so I think the rifle shoots OK. I also thought the single shot would be a good simple place to start. Does anyone have any favorite loads or suggustions? Bullet material will probably be wheelweights. Thanks.

With a gas check and sized 0.311", a little over 10 gr. of Unique would be a top load.

26.0 grains of H335 should give you about 1950 fps or so, and nice tight groups.

Thanks for the quick replies, I wrote both loads down. Any idea of approximate vel. on the Unique load?

About 1500 to 1550 fps.

Thanks, accuracy is all I'm after, I will try as many loads as possible. It would be nice if something really cheap like the Unique load shot well though, more shooting per pound!

I shoot a lot of 30/30 and find that 12-12.5 of AA#9 shoots more accurately than Unique and as accurate or more than 14.5 IMR4227. These are around 1400 fps. With Uniique I get best groups around 8 grains, any bullet from 308403 to 314299. I shoot for small groups only, no hunting or long range.

Thanks for the loads, keep em' coming! I'm writing them all down. MOA would be really nice, and thats what I am really after. (pretty high goal for first try at .30 cal). Thanks again.
