Hi guys,

I just got home with the SP101 and a new set of Hogue grips for it. I'm all set for an evening of dry firing and then off to load 300 jwords to run thru it.

I got the stock grip screw out, and the panels off and a brass colored pin fell out. OK... it's nice to know I have that. Also an aluminum (?) dowel came out. OK... guess I need that too. Hmmm... 1911's don't have pins and dowels.

The instructions with the Hogue grip briefly outline detail of mounting to a Redhawk, a GP100 and a SS, but no detail of an SP101.

For the life of me I can't wrap my new to SP101 mind around how the 'bracket' that allows the grip to tighten from the bottom fits and where in hades the brass pin and alunimium spacer goes.

Can somone help me out here ? A pic of one properly installed would help me bigtime.

Thanks

The disassembly pin is what was getting me. I didn't expect to have a spare pin when finished ;)

You were 110% right about going with the 4"

I like it a bunch better than the 3"

I was looking all over the place when I first got started after one of these. I got an e-mail from a fellow I've worked with a few times over the years telling me he has me one on the way too. Figured if I wanted it he better find it.

Now that's right nice of him, but I forgot to call him back and let him know I found one.

I'm committed on the other one, so I will just hang on to it and see if I need two, or maybe sell or trade it off. Just about every place I looked said they get calls all the time about them, so it shouldn't be too hard to move if I ever decide to.

Thanks again for all your help with my understanding this thing. I haven't shot it yet (Monday morning 7:00 AM) but I can already tell I like it and it's going to be a favorite.

I slugged it tonight. Throats are .314, groove .312 plus a *hair* but much less than .313.

I'm dropping SWC's out of my Lee 6 banger (since I missed the GB on the Keith) at about 101gr @ just under .314.

I'm gonna shoot some as cast and see what that gets me.

Here's a pic of the only two revolvers I own at present. A 500SW and the SP101. Putting them side by side made me chuckle. The SP101 looks like it shrank up in the wash
