I need some info on the different sizes of media available for vib tumblers. Looking on ebay there are just so many sizes for walnut media I want to know what works best for what and all the pros and cons if there are any. Thanks in advance.

Go to PetsMart and get their lizard litter. Ground walnut to which I personally add Zipwax and barkeepers friend.

This is what you want right here. Won't clog primer pockets. Ships and arrives fast. Shipping included in price. Polishes great. Seems quieter to me.

I use the Lizard Litter from whatever pet store I drive by when I need new media. The bag I have now is small enough that it rarely gets stuck in the flash hole.

Almost of the ground walnut shells that anybody is retailing come from a company in Stockton, MO. I just never needed a fifty pound bag of it. Unfortunately, I cannot proviode a link, my computer that had all sorts of neat websites on it died; I have about five on this one.

I am a member with a large Walnut operation, perhaps the largest Black Walnut farm in the USA. Hammonds is also a member. Shells are sold to the Navy under contract for descaling the calcium deposits. Shells do an excellent job of sand blasting without affecting the military paint. The nuts are likewise sold to a specialty ice cream manufacturer in Oregon. ... felix

im going to stop by petsmart and see their prices on the liz litter but the question i had was is there any difference in using one grain of walnut compared to another. i looked online for the petsmart liz litter and its like 13$ for 10 qts. on ebay the walnut media is almost 17$ for 12lbs shipped. can someone post the weight of the liz litter plz.

I weighed one pint and it was .625 lb. So the bag (10 qts) would be 12.5 lbs. This was the Zilla desert blend from PetsMart.

Thanks Felix,

I couldn't remember thier name.

Leadbutt,

My current bag of Zilla Desert Blend lizzard litter is ground English walnut hulls, ten dry quarts; it weighs 11 pounds now, but I have filled my tumbler once so it was probably 12 or 13 pounds or so when full.

It is a little bit finer than the black walnut hulls I have gotten in the past; it still works fine, and doesn't clog the flash holes as bad.

+1 What Ickisrulz says --

fine corn cob with a capful of NuFinish car wax will make your brass super shiny and
VERY quickly.

just to be different I went to a feed store and got ground corn cob. It's a bit larger than normal but will seperate through an RCBS brass seperator. Got a 25# bag years ago and still have plenty left. Do put a 1/2 cap full of Meguiar's Ultimate Compound in every 2nd or 3rd time.

Works great for me
