I'm looking at putting one of these on my 1895 Browning. I'm not too concerned about the historical aspect, but rather about having a good receiver sight.
Can a Lyman or Williams sight be drilled and tapped for this rifle? I would prefer this if possible as the 21 looks a bit big and awkward.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the Peabody 21 sight is a copy of a Lyman 21 that was developed for the 1895 Winchester because a tang sight wouldn't work due to the length of the bolt travel. I have seen an original 1895 in .35 WCF with the Lyman sight. It looked okay to me, but I have read that the adjustments are not all that secure; I don't know for sure, I have never actually used one.

I would think that you could put a normal receiver sight on it, just be very careful about where the holes are drilled.

I did it with a Lyman receiver sight.

I added a banded Sourdough front sight and am pleased with the results. When plinking I was leaving the eye piece in place and removing it when hunting. Now, I generally use it without the eyepiece and just have the ghost rear sight effect.

Strawhat, do you recall what model of sight that is, and what rifle it it for, that is exactly what I'm looking to do.

Off the top of my head, it is a Lyman reciever sight for the Winchester 1886. If I can get additional info I will post it.
