I've got a 40SW bullet that is giving me fits. It's a lightweight (155gr) and short as the dickens compared to others I've seen/used/cast in this size.

No adjustment will fill the groove properly and not squirt lube all over the base or the nose, depending upon how much heat and pressure is applied.

I've tried 7? and it's too small, #6 is too large. I really don't want to epoxy this tonight, but I'm all setup and got about 300 left to do.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks guys ;)

Slick, roll a #6 between two flat hard flat surfaces until it is small enough to fit.

BigSlick;
Place the die on your workbench. Lay a #6 shot on the hole that you wish plugged, and tap it with a tack hammer. Light blows work best. Just keep tapping until it is flush. Works just fine.

What Dale said. Works on my Star dies also and they don't fall out.

what i do is drop a #8 in the hole and then take a small punch and upset it in the hole. its worked for me.

Thanks for the help fellas.

I took #6 and tapped it in place and it seems to work unless I get the temp up too much.

Still trying to find the sweet spot with the iron. I'm pretty close, but it has been pretty cold here which keeps the temp fluctuating unless I reapply the heat every few minutes.

Just when it starts to flow, it goes great for a few then starts to ooze from being too thin.
