I have:
M39 (1944 was a VERY good year)
M91-30 (which is being heavily sporterized... bent bolt, scoped, restocked... and potentially rebarreled)

Three of youse talking big about all these supposid Mosin-Nagant rifles you allegedly own with not one single PHOTO to prove it. Phooey!!

This is one of my M-N. Finn 1891 with original Russian one piece stock, B barrel (Belgium). Bore was unfired when I got it. This ol' boy will put 5 shots in one hole: 311299 with 12 grs Unique @ 50 yds. Being a Mauser man I have an unnatural attraction to this particular Mosin-Nagant rifle for some reason I care not to understand.

Though the barrel bands are modified for the 91 handguard tabs this rifle doesn't appear to have ever had a handguard since the Finn rebuild. I'm rather taken with it's long slender appearance as a result.

Aw..... Come on! I can hunt, fish, reload, hand load, cast my own and cook! What I can't do is take pictures. And put them here. Still learning though. Great picture of the 91. My Finn 91 doesn't have a hand guard either, but has the original rear sight.

I agree with the Dutchman. My experience began when a friend pulled out a beat up M-39 and we shot 5 shots down range with great results. I've since become a fan and I'm looking for more good Finns to buy.

Only own two, a 91 and a 38, both 42 Russian, both ugly, both shooters. Would love a Finn, but they have gotten a bit pricy. I don't buy to collect, I buy to choot cast.:coffeecom

Nagants, I collect, and shoot. Dutchman, I'm one of those guys that never took a focused picture in my life. Lyman 311291, an older mould, casting at 312- 314 works well in my M39. I'm having problems with the 91 and heavy boolits such as 311407. It just doesn't like it! Also tried 311335, great in Swiss K31, lousey in Finn 91. Sized at 312- 314 for both guns. Then again, that's the joy in this hobby, working up the load, finding what's just right, AND repeating it.

I just aquired one of these in a trade! Charley it appers to be just like the one you have. The one that is third from the right, in your photo could you tell me more? It has a hammer and sickle inside a olive wreath on the reciever ring and a date of 1944. I assume it is russian, after that I know nothing about these mosins. Any info would be helpful. Thanks and wow that's a lot of variants. Nice collection! John

Just a postwar M44 short rifle. Soviet made, (hammer/sickle) from Izhevsk arsenal, dated 1947. They made a couple jillion after WWII, stored them, then started selling them in the 90s. MNs probably had the longest production life of any bolt action military rifle. Still produced in China into the late 50s.

Thanks for the info... never imagined there was so many variants. I'm going to start shooting it with cast boolits.

MNs tend to shoot well with cast, at least mine do.

Still produced in China into the late 50s.

Type 53 (m/44 carbine) were made at least to 1960 and seen far too often in Vietnam. The Chinese Type 53 are dated on the receiver ring for year of manufacture.

And then I might even take a pic of my Mosins and post them.

if you ever ever ever want to unload that 1950 mosin for any reason. i will entertain sometimes the rediculous of offers. my name and address is............seriously don't get rid of it. everyday i look for that gun with a buy now price and never find it.

With shipping, that 1950 Ishevsk set me back $775...... YEEEOWTCH! I cringed at that one. However--- Mosins don't get much rarer, or in better shape, than this one. It's essentially a NEW rifle, built on a 1948 date "low wall" Izhevsk receiver. I don't think I'll be parting with this one in some time...!

Besides.... I bought your Yugo M76...remember? lol

I've shot most of them, yes. But no , not all! I tend to keep shoot the same 4 or 5 mosins. I have Mojo sights installed on my favorite 91/30's, Peep sight blades installed on all my M39's, and a scope or two thrown in there too, one on a Finn Tikka M91, the PE & 52M snipers, and my "Russian Ray GUN" lol a Bubba'd M44

Count your fingers again. It's 7 numbers apart.

Still, that's pretty cool. I bet they came over from Finland in the same crate.

For you MN lovers and accumulators, I have a Finnish Nagant, a Sako Mod. 39 (Civil Guard) in at least 90% condition which I'd like to sell. It has an excellent bore and crown and is quite accurate. Other than somewhat weak extraction when single loaded and operating the bolt slowly, there's nothing wrong with it. Just thinning the herd, so to speak*. It truly shines with Ly. #314299 @ .312". I'm asking $375 + shipping for it. PM me if interested.

*I have a "need" for a pricey flintlock rifle and this will help finance it.

I have a Bubba coming just for that reason, LOL

I blew my back out over 8yrs ago now, so my Milsurp collection has narrowed to only a few cartridges, but I'll have to get down to the 'panic room' and get a count on my favorite weapon, the Mosin Nagant!!

Between the farm work and watching after 'Mom' I did get down to the man cave and get a count on my Mosins;

My 91/30s:
1927 Izzy matching 'Hex' receiver
1934 Izzy matching Hex
1935/36 overstamp Tula also with an E. German stamp
1940 Tula laminated stock (scout mounted scope)

M38s:
1942 Izzy matching
1942 Izzy w/ M44 laminated stock

M44s;
1952 Polish matching (in the white)
1953 Polish Matching unissued
1953 Hungarian matching near unissued (just put a scout mount w/Burris 2x7)

1944 Izzy 91/59 a real beauty (haven't shot yet)

Finnish captures;
1917 Remington M91 civil Guard marked (not shot yet)
1931 Izzy 91/30 41 and SA stamped (just picked up) war horse
1934 Tikka M27 right out of refirb!!
No Date M28 SY civil Guard w/ Sig barrel War Horse
1940 Izzy 91/30 non refurb, no SA but Finn marked bolt
1941 Izzy 91/30 non refurb SA/ 41 stamped
1942 VKT M39 post war stock
1942 M39 'B' barrel near unnissued w/ scout mount and Redfield 2x7
1942 VKT M91 (just traded for)
1942 'B' barrel M91 (one of Vics from Gunboards' old girls)

To be quite honest with 'ya, I didn't realize I had that many Mosins! There is something quite unique about them, I just can't figure out what the draw is, except they don't cost as much as K98s YET, LOL.

I'm still running fence posts but once the snow flys, I'll make an effort to get some pics up.:-)
