Been a while since I posted much, but another item has come up in loading the RCBS 45-230CM in the 45 Auto. Now I know the original intent of this boolit is for use in the 45 Colt, but it works nicely in the 45 Auto as well. I find that my seaters are all a lil' small in regards to the wide nose on this boolit, and it marks the rounded over flat as it is seated. What do you use for a proper seater stem here...another punch from a set of dies(RCBS) or should I do like I did before and order s custom punch from RCBS like I did for Lymans 250gr hollowpoint boolit for the 44? Need a lil' input here guys....thanks...

There are other ways around the problem than ordering a custom part. One way is to coat a bullet/boolit with lube, remove the seating plug and invert it, mix a little epoxy and set the projectile's nose in it. This creates a custom formed seating plug. If you are not happy with the result, play the flame of a propane torch on it and the epoxy is easily removed. Some like epoxy putty for this as it's less messy, but the regular stuff works well if that's what you've got on hand.

The seaters sent with die sets are ok for using the typical jacketed boolits and a small selection of cast boolits, but us casters are still in the backseat when it comes to what we want to do differently. Thanks for your input...will take that under advisement...
