Does anyone have any experience with these? I like the look of the gun, but it's kind of hard to pay the guy's $450 asking price. It just looks like a 300 dollar bill to me - but it's in very good condition, and where else are you going to find a butter-knife bolt handle under a grand? If they're known as great shooters then that's OK, but I don't want to spend that kind of money for an "average" used gun.

I saw two at a gun show last weekend and neith one was over $300. They aren't bad shooters and they are steel and wood. When they were made they were the cheapest guns on the market and ran about $19.95. If I saw one with a mint bore and maybe 85-90 outside finish I might go $350 but not a penny more. IMHO

jim, I've heard these things are good shooters, but you might want to see my post "My 340". I THINK the 340 is a relative to your 322. Not absolutely sure. Yours may have been "put together" a bit better than mine. I started to post some of my thoughts here, but didn't want to threadjack ya.

Jim, I believe the models went from 322-325-340, same basic rifle. The hornet in any mod. is the scarcest, watchout for the mag, they are hard to comeby and high.

I had a 340 years ago in 22 hornet and at the time it was the most accurate rifle I owned. I could litterally hit tacks at 50 yards with it with regularity. The only problem I had was that the hornet lacked range for woodchuck busting so I got rid of it and got a 222 remington.

I have one of these rifles,in 22 hornet also. It shoots J bullets super, but havnt found a cast bullet for it yet. Seems that it has a 16 inch twist, and any cast bullet over 48-50 grs. will slap target side ways! That clip will cost you 50 bucks or so(if you can find one!), so treat it with care! The damn gun is almost impossible to load single-shot, the chamber is way forward of the loading port, and my fingers just dont fit in there! I stoned my sear, and have a nice 1.5 pound trigger, it was very easy to do. Nice little gun to dub around with, but i dont think id pay anywhere close to that price. Payed I think, around 170 bucks for mine.
