I have a 1/2 gallon jar of Vlasic pickles. Can you just dump in some boiled eggs into the jar once the pickles are gone? If so. How long should you leave them in and how long would the be good for?

I have no idea how long they would last, I keep them in the solution for about a week and they last about a week before they are gone. When the pickles (spears) are about 1/2 gone, I add the eggs. Pickles and eggs are good togather.

I know of a couple old saloons, that I swear the same eggs are in the jar on the back bar that have been there for nigh on to 30 years. Same with some disgusting looking turkey gizzards.

Taste okay to me!

Yup, any commercial pickling solution will work. I prefer home made. Nothing like pickled eggs and Blatz on the porch on a warm summer evening.

I like this recipe. http://www.kitchendaily.com/recipe/ford-field-fire-eggs-76292/

I don't like them obnoxiously hot so I usually use some jalapeno and anaheim peppers for some taste and mild zip.

Best I've found- Get a large jar of Jalapeno pepperz and eat the peppers (or just strain off the juice, the peppers will keep a long time without the juice). Put your peeled boiled eggs in the juice. two days later, grate pikled eggz.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I figured that somebody had done that. I'll dump in some eggs and a little onion and a jalapeno and see what happens.

My recipe below. This last batch was made with some Hungarian peppers and they are the best batch I've made so far.

Soaking them in pickle juice for a week gets the job done. The juice soaks in about half way to the yoke.

Who else has a problem letting the eggs soak for a week or two? I can't. About 2 days is it!

The secret is to have mutiple jars in the refrigerator. After you empty one refill it, put it in the back and start on the one that has been sitting.

it's the smell out the other end the next day that sorta prevents me from eating them. :)
