I will ask because I don't know, what about Bismuth added to lead for casting? I know it is used for shot for waterfowl in shotgun shells.

I wouldn't do it, there is no reason to add it to lead sence it's a byproduct of the smelting process I belive.

1-2% bismuth will add hardness just like antimony will going over that however will cause problems.
treat it like adding zinc.
if it's bismuth shot it will also have about 5% tin added to it to keep the bismuth from being too brittle to shoot in shotguns.

The reason I ask because I may have a source to get some Bismuth, I am new to this have been collecting lead WW I did not know if the Bismuth could have a use in the mix. Thanks for the reply.
