I found a few bags of these red shotshell inserts from winchester and don't know what they are used with. Anybody got any info?

I haven't used any AA red wads in a while, but there were lots of loads listed in most of the shotshell reloading manuals just a few years ago.

That's kinda what I thought. However, I don't load shotshells. Would they work with slugs?

They work perfectly with the Lee 1 oz slug.

From my dusty memory, those are 12 gauge 1 1/4 oz. field load wads, I loaded a few of them back in the `80`s with #6 shot for Mich. pheasants.Robert

These wads were originally introduced for heavy loads in paper hulls, but were extremely useful with several loads in a variety of hulls. I have used them with slugs, buckshot, and field loads from 1 1/4 to 1 5/8 oz loads. I have seen all sorts of data for these wads.

They were also the perfict wad to load 1 1/8 oz of shot over 80 - 90 gr of Black

Great fun during a fun trap or skeet shoot
Also go's about 1200 FPS

Drop on in a frinds shell bag if he shoots a O/U or Pump gun LOL

They load nice in the old Winchester paper base high basewad hull.. 18 or 19 of red dot, 1 1/8 oz of shot, a nice easy 1200 fps or so..

Thanks guys, since I no longer load shotshells I will probably sell them. Although, the idea of loading sabots is very interesting.
