Which do you think would work better on coyotes. Winchester Super X 40 gn jhp or their Dynapoint 45 grain? Or would something else be better?

the 40 is hard to beat but havent used a 22 mag on that size varment so dont know head shot will do with anything

The Dynapoints will blow a squirrel apart...does that help?

With good shot placement they will both work just fine.

The alligator trappers use them to kill 12 ft alligator with one shot that weigh close to 1000 pounds. I would say that is good and when I was young in the early 60's we killed many a deer with a head shot.

I'm wonderin if ya want a soft point rather than hollow point.? Just a thought.

I watch Swamp People from time to time. 99% of the time they are using .22 LR and head shots. Doesn't seem to hard to kill an alligator up close.

I am looking for imput on this ammo. I have seen reviews that did not speak highly of the dynapoint yet the super x hollow points everyone seemed to like.

You know, the best thing to do is to accuracy test a variety of ammo not designed for prarie dogs in your gun at the max range you anticipate. What alligator trappers or squirrel shooters do is pretty irrelevant to your idea of shooting coyotes with a 22M.

300 win mag is right about shot placement.

The Dynapoint shoots fair to poorly in most guns chambered for 22 WMR, in addition to being about 350-400 fps slower than the Winchester 40 JHP. The Dynapoint is best viewed as a "sub load" for the 22 WMR and more suited for plinking and smaller game.

The Dynapoint bullet is copper washed swaged lead with a small hollowbase. It does expand, and as a relatively soft swaged bullet will do so pretty readily......but the chronographed velocity through my 22 inch WMR is around 1550 fps. The Winchester 40 JHP has a tiny hollowpoint and a true gilding metal jacket and runs around 1900 fps. The Winchester 40 JHP offering is really a softpoint, as the hollow point is so small that it really doesn't have much effect.

The Winchester 40 JHP is the considerably better choice. Likely to be more accurate, and significantly more power.

A 22 WMR is not a long range coyote round. Calling distances only, and nothing over 75 yards, even with ideal placement.

I know it has limitations. The problem is when deer season starts here a rimfire is the only rifle we are allowed to use.

I have killed a couple with the Win 40 hp.
