Gents, have any of you made a 50 50 mix of BAC and 2500 lube?

Any degree of less tackiness ? Good flow ?

Like both but I feel BAC tends to be more tacky than 2500 and was wondering if
a mix of both might be a great lube solution?

There's some good info on making Lotak. I haven't tried it yet, buy some folks that have, say it's great. The thread is right here somewhere. I may have to try that. Let us know how you make out. enjoy Mike

Isn't that a Dan Bull Shop lube ? My focus
is White Label BAC and 2500 lube combination
please.

I want to find out any benefits of mixing 50% BAC
to 50% 2500 lube.

Sorry, mil - you are correct. I was thinking White Label. Mike

Try mixing them and see. Certainly nothing to lose.

I own, nor have used, neither.

Just trying to see if anyone has done this and their opinion
before I plough ahead and do discovery learning.

If anyone has experience doing this, kindly post.

I mix a stick of carnuba red with 3 sticks of BAC to cut down the tackiness. Melt stir and pour into 450 sizer - wait about an hour then start lube/sizeing. I put 1/2 a stick of 2500 in the melt pot (different pot that used above) with 3 sticks of 50/50 for a pistol lube. This is what I do that works for ME.Robert

i use two sticks of their 50-50 to one of their red to make my own bac it's fairly hard and not tacky.
adding less than one or less than two would slightly change the final outcome as would adding some parrafin, or lanolin.
it does take heat to flow.
mixig your own to suit your needs is fine.
i like to let what i make sit for a week or so to see what the final outcome will really be.

I think the speed of your boolit matters a lot. My 45acp was great on the gooey 50/50 mix they have. I am trying the BAC now. For a 30-06 your needs are different than mine.

All their lubes do great for me for 45acp and 9mm cast bullets. The issue is reducing tackiness of BAC so my question is does it get less tacky with 2500 mixed 50 50 with BAC ?

Thats the issue I am trying hard to find someone with experience to comment upon. I know NRA 50 50 and all White Label lubes perform just fine.

I have mixed half BAC and half Carnuba Red and that does reduce the tackyness. If you let them air dry for a couple of days it will "skin over" and reduce the tackyness even more. Sorry but I have not used 2500 yet in any way. I hope this helps.

I kinda think that we have been commenting on our experiences with these lubes mixed. Besides the comment has been put forward to try the mix you want yourself.Robert

Robert,

Respectfully, a guy can ask a question can't he ?

I think there are a lot of members that might have direct knowledge
on what I am asking about.

Hopefully there are and I won't have to go into discovery learning mode... thats
what I want to avoid, making up a bunch of lube and not happy with results when
others have been there and could warn me.

Casting is all about discovery and learning. What works for me might not work for you and for any given variety of reasons.

Ask Glenn and Leah for their sample package, or better yet, e-mail THEM and explain what you're wanting to try and see if they'll send you some small samples of the lubes you're wanting to blend.

THEY, the makers of the lube, also just might be able to answer your question.

tackiness scale goes 50/50 - bac- 2500- red

The above from White Label Lube.

Considering the above, I may be ahead by a 50% 2500 to 50% Carnuba Red mix.

Yes, they would send samples but I won't have to ask for that. I have ten sitcks of
each of their lubes on hand.

I am using
1/3 Camuba Red
1/3 2500
1/3 GAR NRA

Its going through my old Lyman 45 well with no heat and is not very sticky

Snafu 12.... sounds like BAC would suit your needs and no
work involved. Just a thought.

nope but one of my favorite lubes is felix lube and cordurba red mixed 5050. Felix lube by the recipe works fine but is a tad soft and tacky for storing bullets. I allways used to add a bit of parifn to stiffin it but found i like the idea of adding a good lube to stiffin it instead of a wax that does about nothing.
