http://www.fellingfamily.net/isolead/

Incidentally, while I haven't updated the page, we retested these samples about 18 months later. All the ones over 21-24 bhn had softened a few points, and all the ones under 21-24 bhn had hardened a few points. The ones in the 21-24 range stayed the same.

I find about the same running as is, aircooled. I have used it like that, or if I wanted it harder, I have used it in a 1-1-1 ratio, with coww's and lino for a bhn 14-15. Also have HT'd that 1-1-1 alloy as well from 18-20 for some higher velocity rounds.

I've water dropped some of MCS's isotope lead, but I don't have a hardness tester.

its a pretty versatile alloy
like our friend the wheel weight
cept cleaner
I have a chance to get a bunch of cores
I wonder would there be a niche here for it
I have to pay quite a bit for it so not sure if its worth the trouble

I guess it would depend on how much is quite a bit, as to resale oppritunities here. If reasonable, I'm sure there would be interest.

I couldn't match Sam's price but could get close
probably 70.00 for two cores

If that is shipped price, I wouldn't consider it unreasonable. Not quite as cheap as coww's that are available here as well, but still I find it a highly useful alloy as is aircooled. If Sam was out, I wouldn't hesitate getting some from you when the need arises. For my thought's, I guess it depends on how much you can get and how, long you can sit on it.

bet about a 1000# of cores and that much again of
containers pipe and what not

If I had the cashflow and the gettin price was within reason, I'd take all I could and sell what I don't need,,,,,it'll go eventually. But 500# for my own use, wouldn't be any too much. Just very good alloy I think. Does well at the pressures I run, in all but one.

I have about 2000 lbs under my bench. I get about that much every 3 months from my source. I usually keep about 25% and the rest I sell to a local commercial caster.

I made some really nice RD 100 grain 380 boolits a while back with the 31# core alloy. Casts really nice "as is".

I have 5 cores un-melted and about 20 lbs of the alloy melted into smaller ingots.

Nice stuff!
