Some of you may want to jump on this. I was at the lee surplus site late last night and they had a 6 cav TL?.432/285 uncataloged
or something like that for $29.00. All other 6 cav were $50.00 At the time I think there were 18 left.

These are the second set of returned molds from Jeff223's group buy for the TLC432-285-RF. They where a little under diameter (something between .430 & .432) and the nose was slightly greater than the 72% meplat my drawing specified. Really, the whole point of the return was holding Lee to their drawing and specs for producing the mold. The first set was really bad and those returned where destroyed.

If you don't need a boolit .432 or greater, the mold is a great buy. I have communicated with a bunch of casters that are shooting them and they are very happy with their purchase of this surplus item.

Is this a pb or a checked mold? Gianni

It is a gas check design

I have both moulds , the under sized that drops .431 and the correct .434

Both are super accurate

Sometimes it pays to goof off and not get around to sending a mould back [smilie=1: [smilie=1:

Has anyone else noticed that the Lee clearance specials are often priced higher than Midway's regular price for the same item.

Lee probably does not want to undercut its retailers.

Lee has a fixed price for it's items as do most others. MSR= manufactures suggested retail. It gives a good break to volumn outlets like most other mfg's do. Gianni.

I know Lyman for sure does the same thing. I called them up to order a Great Plains rifle kit some years ago and they told me that I should order it from Midsouth because it was $150 cheaper there.

It's nice to see some manufacturers have a sense of loyalty to their dealers.

Loyalty???? It's a matter of contract. They cannot sell anything to a non-distributor for less than retail.

Looks to me like online ordering from their surplus page is disabled at the moment. And entering the item number in their online catalog ordering system brings up a "No Longer Available or Discontinued" error message.

Same experience as Ricochet. They do answer the phone, however. :-D

I ordered one one the phone last week and got it yesterday, I just cast a bunch of boolets with it and seems to be a great mould ,I am going to try some without t he gas check as a 44mag target load ,we shoot metal plates at 25yrds and it would seem to be a great load for a slow heavy slug to knock over the plate and still shoot kind of qucikly. If not I guess I can still put the checks on

Lee had 2 of the 429-208-Wadcutter moulds left for $16.50. I thought that was a good price for a double cavity wadcutter so I had Lee send one of them my way. I don't even have the .44 special pistol yet I want to purchase, so I might as well start getting all the other cheap goodies to go with it. I can cast alot of boolits in the mean time until I get the money for the pistol !!

The Lee 429-208 shoots very well in my S. Blackhawk 44. Good bullet.
