Aftre casting I spray the inside of the pot with WD40 to keep it from rusting.
Smokes a bunch when it's heating up again, but pot stays mostly rust free.
I've tried leaving the pot full, but it still rust.
How do ya'll keep your pots from rusting????

I paste anti-seize on the parts that might rust while they are still hot. It seems to keep them almost new looking.

My electric pots stay inside, I don't worry about my smelting pot; fluxing while smelting takes care of it.

From what I remember, Hawaii usually has pretty high humidity, frequent use may be your best answer.

I went to stainless. Dross accumulation dropped by half or more.

Bret is exactly right a stainless pot does not accumulate dross near as much as a cast iron or steel pot. Don't have much of a problem with rust in my casting pot, I always make sure it is full before shutting it off, I use only a wood stick to for sturing it which also fluxes at the same time. No oils, waxes or petroleum distilates of any kind ever go into my casting pot, that means that my casting pot stays clean always. I flux the snot out of my smelting pot with sawdust two or three times before pouring.

Everything here rust. Not as bad as those living near the ocean, but still bad.
