View Full Version : Any interest in a .503" 350WFN?

I'm not one of the .500 shooters that want the big heavy slugs. I'm going more for the economy of lead, and milder recoil, keeping the large cross-section.
Thus, the 350 grain boolit.

It is an 80% meplat, PB design.
Any interest out there?

Edit: Talking to Swede, we need 5 for a small group buy. Gitcher say so here and once I have 5 interested, I will get a GB going.

If I may make a suggestion ? that looks as though it would work in the .50 Beowulf as well ( though I cant tell as it is not dimensioned) I just obtained a used gently and slightly used MiHec for the Beo. Mine drops .502 and weights 370 with the smallest of 3 hollow points. I feel certain it would come down around 350 with the large one. I know of at least one other person
that would looking for one. So if you have trouble getting interest in this one maybe see if it has use for the Beo and advertise it that way, or if you like the one in the picture you could look at the re run I was trying to get together that died on the vine.

Thanks greywuuf!
The pics are helpful, and indeed it might be used in the .50 Beowolf. It is designed as .501, tho .502-.503 seems better to me. I haven't even tried to calc the length, it will just come out whatever it needs to be. HP is perfectly OK, tho in a .50, I don't see a need. It makes a bigger hole than most boolits after their HP opens.
The down side is that if you've already looked for support for the project, and it didn't take, it may be pi$$in' in the wind. A custom 2 cav would be a C-note away....

Something to look at.

Could do this as a SGB (Small Group Buy), with tooling on hand.
Would only be able to do a plain base.

I'm interested in it too. As long as it stays at the 350gr mark.
Everything I'm shooting in my 500 has been grouping high, so next step is to lower gr in boolit.
Be a nice round for deer hunting.

I use the 460 grain RN (500294) in both my wulf and my 500 mag..... Originally tried a flat nose but it had problems feeding..... Also as the wulf is a gas gun a gas check is a critical feature....

This will shoot fine in a 500 mag but I would have reservations with using it in my wulf.....

I am counting three so far. I will do two to help it along. One more and we can schedule. I would like RG4 if it is doable.

Thanks

Thanks for going the extra mile, Aaron. I'm going to bump this to the top and see if there's any more interest.....

Seems like this would be a natural for the 12.7x44R Swede RB. I wouldn't care for the HP, but paper doesn't need a HP. :-)

I guess I'm the "one more"

We can get this in a SGB and if we can get this in a hollow point also, I would do 2 molds in 4 cavities ea.....aluminum molds
1 a solid the other in hollow point.
That would give us 5 that way.

Ed:

what does your 12.7 slug at? what do you make brass from? I may have a chance to get one of these rifles.

If I counted correctly, with me and Aaron getting 2, we have 8 people interested.

If we can get this in an HP style also, I'll take a 4 cav solid and a 2 cav HP.
