My Romy AK parts kit that I built over the past 6 months....:-| Could have bought one cheaper...But wouldn't have had as much fun....

Now I need to cast for Mr AK......

You know...I do admire the AK platform..I own a WASR-10 myself. The gun dealer had them stacked-up by the cash register so customers could 'impulse' purchase an AK on his way to pay. That's where I got mine.

The strange thing is that it's accurate..accurate enough anyway..and far more accurate than I had been led to believe.

Great looking AK.I bought My Kit when they were $99 with the barrel. It was unissued also.I tapped and threaded the rivet holes and used button head screws and it turned out great.I have run 1000's of rounds including cast thru it and never a FTF or stovepipe or hiccup.I have never had a better semi auto rifle.I have several sets or laminated furniture that I stripped and stained different colors for the mood. The sky is the limit on colors.Enjoy that thing.Mike
PS It is probably one of the Guns you will keep the rest of your life

I bought mine for $80. :-)
I ended up drilling holes and welding mine. Smooth finish, and no need to press the barrel out. High temp engine paint and 320 grit on the wood and it's nice looking. Thousands of rounds thru it. Don't clean it ever and can't jam it. It shoots a Lee 200gr boolit subsonic and cycles nicely.

That's pretty nice looking. What receiver did you use? How tough was it to get the fits & finishes the way that they needed to be?

Wish I would have bought 19 of them with barrels when they were that cheap.Been kickin myself for not getting more ever since.A couple weeks after I got my 1st Kit they had some with rust on them for $79.I bought 1 of those and it was almost as nice as the 1st Kit that I bought for $99 and was matching also.Made for a fine Rifle also.Simple build with the right tap and dont have to remove the barrel. It is long gone in a trade so I just have my first build. All in all my favorite Rifle and will be with me when they throw dirt on me.Mike

Yep, been there done that (wishing that I had seen the light and bought a bunch of kits).

Here is my 1st build with Yugo Underfolder w/DCI rcvr (all are rivot builds):

I forgot what I paid for the kit but I have $320 in her, and that was back in 2006. Todays its self worth is priceless to me. Actually on all of them.

My 2nd build is a Romi G unissued, unfired, beautiful shape kit costing a mere $99 bucks. Total cost with a new serialized rcvr, $250

#3 is a Yugo Fixed butt stock and cost the most as it was yet a while after my initial adventures. Kit cost $195, $340 in total build.

The photo shows an incomplete build on the fixed stock (above) but that project was completed soon after taking the pic.

Again, all of these utilize commercial rcvrs. Somewhere along the way we made a jig to bend the flats in which I now have two of them. hoping to one day find a deal on another kit.

Here's a few extra pics:

None of these examples have ever belched... never. I find them all Man-of-angle at 250 yards. They run like a well oiled machine.

Thanks for the post !

Do any American manufacturers make good quality wooden furniture for those things?

$120 doesn't seem too high given you get 4 US made wooden stock parts.

I bought some mismatched kits with barrels years ago and put together three and I paid $39.95 wish I had got 50 at that price as they all made good shooters. I gave each of my sons one and sold the other as I am more into single shots big bore.
