I've have an older Taurus stainless85 (90's vintage) which shoots like a dream. I was goofing around with light boolits in my Smith 52 one day, and had some 120's loaded up with 2.8 grains of BE, and tried them in the model 85. This little snubby threw 5 rounds into a 1 1/2" group at 25 yards with this load, my jaw dropped. It's a pretty mild load, but I keep wondering about the durability of the smaller framed .38's. I really love shooting the gun now, and can go through several hundred rounds in a shooting session.

Is the steel good in these guns, and will it last?

Good morning
Bought my sonīs each a Taurus 6" caliber .357 16 years ago. One son still has his and uses it regular with .357 158 mag loads.
Your listed load is low powered. I do not think you need to be concerned about stressing your revolver. That power factor puts those load into the 38 S&W grouping.

I've got a blue 85 of the same vintage, that is the only Taurus handgun that I still own. Mine has held up well, and I enjoy shooting it. It's not rated for +P ammo (although later guns are approved for +P), so I respect that and keep the velocity and pressure down to standard .38 Special levels.
