I've got a couple reloading projects pending..one is a .45-70 Trail Boss load for a trapdoor rifle.

Are there any preferable bullet lubes for Trail Boss?

Lube I have on hand is a home-brew beeswax/crisco/canola oil mix(lotsa wax..pretty stable in the heat)..and SPG.

My bullets cast fairly hard and is wheel weight alloy..a 405gr bullet. Velocitys looked for will more or less duplicate the .45-70 carbine/cowboy load.

If there are lubes that are preferable to a specific smokeless powder, I'm certainly not aware of it ?

I've used Javelina Alox/beeswax blend with Trail Boss in 38 Special, 357 Magnum, 44 Special, and 45 Colt with good results. These were all plain based boolits running 750-950 FPS. No use of TB in the 45-70 yet, but Javelina does fine work there with plain-based boolits to 1350 FPS.
